Wendy Gutterson, M.S.

Founder and CEO

As President of Physician Management Resources, Wendy Gutterson brings more than 20 years of practice leadership to medical offices all over the country. She has worked in solo physician offices and as well as multi-site, multi-specialty practices with more than 100 providers. A natural problem solver, Wendy is dedicated to operational excellence.

 

Wendy’s financial and operational know-how springs from nearly three decades of practice leadership experience. Prior to launching Physician Management Resources, Wendy worked in large and small physician practices, as well as academic departments at Tufts Medical Center, Lahey Clinic, Cambridge Health Alliance and Hebrew SeniorLife.

 

A frequent speaker on management topics, Wendy serves on faculty of the Harvard Medical School Women's Leadership Conference, where she offers a finance workshop for physician leaders.  Wendy is also a chapter leader of Believe Inspire Grow a women's empowerment and networking organization.

 

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Wendy holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a graduate degree in health care administration from Simmons College, Boston where she is an honorary trustee and member of the Dean’s Advisory Council.

Remi is a detail-oriented team player. She has served in high-level support roles for executives in the legal, security and technology fields. Remi’s experience in these support roles allows her to bring an advanced level of organizational and communication skills, as well as a professional drive for excellence, to all she does.

 

Remi grew up in Brooklyn, NY and has lived in Massachusetts for 25 years. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Vassar College and holds a Master’s degree from the University of London. She is a retired WNBF Bodybuilding Pro. In her free time, she enjoys strength training, Peloton rides, reading and fun food adventures with her husband and 3 adult children.

Melissa Grossman

Director, Human Resources 

Melissa’s background includes more than 20 years of leadership and human resources management experience. Prior to joining Physician Management Resources, Melissa worked at Combined Jewish Philanthropies and Brandeis University, in the fields of leadership coaching and development.

 

Her area of expertise includes employee coaching, recruitment, and organizational development. She works with practices throughout the country to optimize staff and develop high-performing teams.

 

Melissa holds a B.A. degree in English from Brandeis University, and a M.S.W. from Yeshiva University. She is an active member of the Society for Human Resources Management and enjoys working with a diverse client population to maximize workplace productivity and satisfaction.

 

When not at work, Melissa enjoys cooking, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

Carrie Canoy

Director, Credentialing Services

Carrie has a strong background in credentialing, business development, and regulatory compliance. Her introduction to the healthcare field began in high school, when she took professional healthcare courses and gained firsthand experience working at a local doctor’s office, sparking her interest in credentialing and healthcare operations.

​

She holds an associate's degree in healthcare administration, a bachelor's degree in business administration, and a graduate certificate in Healthcare Law from Cornell University.

 

As the Director of Credentialing Services, Carrie oversees credentialing, licensing, and payor enrollment process for physicians and allied health professionals. She leads a team of credentialing coordinators, providing training, guidance, and strategic direction. Carrie enjoys working with startups and innovative practices to develop streamlined credentialing solutions that support business growth and operational excellence.

Carrie is an active member of the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and is committed to professional development and industry best practices.

​

Originally from Huntington, WV, Carrie now resides in Missouri with her husband and children on a small farm- home to many spoiled animals. In her free time, she enjoys the gym, paddleboarding, listening to podcasts, and discovering new coffee shops.

Michele Kramer

Director,  Revenue Cycle Services

Michele is a dedicated and experienced professional with over 30 years in the field of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), specializing in areas such as medical billing, coding, and EHR/Clearinghouse integration. A graduate of Penn Foster in Medical Billing and Coding, she is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through the AAPC, with a deep understanding of RCM processes and system integrations. Over the years, Michele has successfully managed and led EHR/Clearinghouse go-lives and served as an integration specialist, ensuring smooth transitions for healthcare providers. In addition to this technical expertise, Michele is an auditor and documentation educator, committed to improving processes, enhancing accuracy, and fostering education within the RCM space.

Outside of the office, Michele is passionate about giving back to her community. She is a co-founder and co-chair of a local soup kitchen, where she helps coordinate meals for those in need. As a member of ESA (Epsilon Sigma Alpha), an international philanthropic organization, Michele holds the position of Philanthropic Chair for the state of Oklahoma. In this role, she works to support local organizations and St. Jude’s through fundraising efforts. 

​

When Michele is not focused on professional or philanthropic pursuits, you’ll find her spending time with friends and family, relaxing on the lake, or enjoying other leisure activities. 
 

Joanna Payne
Bookkeeper

With a Bachelor's degree from City College and over 20 years of experience in credentialing, Ty brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the field. Throughout her career, she held various credentialing roles in diverse settings, including health plans, medical groups, hospital medical staff offices, and telehealth facilities. This experience has allowed Ty to develop a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in ensuring proper credentialing processes across different platforms.
 

On a personal note, Ty is happily married and a proud parent to a son and a beloved dog. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality moments with my family, whether we're enjoying outdoor activities or simply relaxing together.

Deborah Wessell

Manager, Revenue Cycle Services

A 40 year veteran of the healthcare industry, Deborah began her career as a Medical Assistant at the University Hospital in Boston, MA.  When computer technology made its way into that medical practice, Deborah found her true calling.  She pivoted towards the technology arena and worked for many years at a software company in the role of Trainer and Implementation Specialist.  In time, she was able to combine her love of technology with her foundation in the medical field by specializing in medical billing and revenue cycle management.  For the last 20 years, Deborah worked for a medical practice management software company, first, providing training and then support services, before moving to the Clearing House for Medical Claims and Electronic Payments. Here, she partnered with clients to implement their software and train them on how to use it effectively to boost revenue. With her years of experience, attention to detail and a passion for customer service in this specialized field of practice management, Deborah is dedicated to improving revenue for our providers.

 

Deborah shares her home with two wonderful, much-adored cats and enjoys being surrounded by nature. She can often be found gardening, relaxing on the beach or going for long walks in the woods near her home.

Robin is a graduate of The Rhode Island School of Design and offers over 15 years of experience in print design, web design, and marketing.  Her focus is on clear communication and visual solutions that are unique, refreshing and memorable in the marketplace.  She specializes in effective user experience and brand development.  Robin works with all size companies from universities and financial institutions to medical practices, retailers and start-ups.

When she is not designing, she enjoys yoga, cooking, hiking and spending time with family and friends.

Joanna Payne

Manager, Bookkeeping 

Joanna grew up in Needham, MA, where she began her career as a bookkeeper in high school, working for her family’s business. During this time, she developed a passion for understanding the intricacies of running a business, particularly the financial aspects. Over the past 25+ years, Joanna has honed her skills in finance across a wide range of industries, including healthcare, construction, trades, real estate, hospitality, and municipalities.


Joanna has taken various QuickBooks and productivity courses over the years to stay current and further refine her expertise. She is proficient in QuickBooks and skilled in key areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. Her goal is to help businesses streamline their financial processes, improve efficiency, and achieve their goals.


Outside of work, Joanna enjoys cooking and baking, spending quality time with family and friends, attending her teenage boys' sporting events, traveling to new places, and listening to music.
